A half-day trip to the memorial of the Holocaust. In the late 18th century, the Emperor Josef II. had a Baroque army fortress built in the honor of his mother's name. In the early 1940s, the Nazis established a transit ghetto, which served as "a model" for International Red Cross officials during inspection visits. Later on the infamous Terezin concentration camp was built, where 35,000 Jews lost their lives. Nowadays, you can visit the Holocaust memorial and the concentration camp museum.

The nearby castle Orlik was also built in 13th century and then adapted in Neo-gothic style in the middle of 19th century with a big castle park.
